Dear Cesar Chavez,
My name is Azahne Barnes. I am a 5th grade student at Luis Munoz Marin Elementary School. I am writing this letter to you because many students struggle with reading and writing. Mr. Chavez, I am one of the students who struggle. I struggle in school.
Reading and writing are very hard for me because I get some of the letters mixed up. It’s hard for me to spell and do other normal things the other kids do in class, like read the words and write essays. Sometimes I get very sad because it is not easy for me. Even when I am sad, I still keep trying. I am learning to sound out words and spell them. My teachers are helping me learn the sounds of the letters too. I am glad they are helping me. They let me take my time. Mr. Chavez, they’re really nice, you know?
Since I struggle in class, I feel responsible to help other children like me. It’s not fair that I and other students feel uncomfortable in class because we are not on the same level like the others. You know what I mean? It is not fair that I can’t read or write like others. Cesar Chavez, I can motivate other children to make sure they understand how important education is by telling them why they need it. I can also tell them to keep trying. I can talk to them to see why they are struggling and help them get the help they need. I want to help people like you did, Mr. Chavez. It’s important for everyone to help each other remember education is important.
Sincerely,
Azahne Barnes
